THE HOUSE

Elaine and Doug welcome you to Highbury Coach House, set within the grounds of Highbury House, a Grade II listed Victorian gentleman’s residence built circa 1820-50. We are situated in Lydney on the southern edge of the Royal Forest of Dean with great views of the forest and Cotswold Hills in the distance. We are close by to the River Severn, famed for its surge termed 'The Bore', Lydney steam railway and the famous Puzzle Wood enchanted forest.

We have four, two bedroom, beautifully presented apartments. Each apartment has excellent views over the valley and to the Forest of Dean and Severn Valley. Fully equipped with fitted kitchen, washing machine, dishwasher, cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer, Free WiFi, parking and secure cycle storage. The Tack room apartment has a lovely private patio area for sitting and relaxing whilst our Grooms apartment boasts a larger private patio/balcony with outdoor seating for 4 and stunning direct views of the forest. All of our apartments are dog friendly and have access, via a number of steps, to the gardens for exercising. (Larger dogs may need to be exercised off site). There are also picnic areas, unfenced ponds, a barbeque and many delightful seating areas to sit, relax and enjoy the stunning views.

Each of our four apartments are housed within the picturesque 1800 century Coach House which in turn sits in the delightful grounds and gardens of Highbury House. Our guests are invited to explore the gardens following the meandering paths around the grounds and ponds or to just sit and relax at the many seating areas, taking in the peace and quiet of the beautiful forest beyond.

If you prefer , you are welcome to make use of the chinney or barbeque and dine ‘al fresco’ at one of the outdoor dining tables. After dinner you may like to play giant connect four with your family and friends or just sit a chat about the places of interest you have visited during your stay.

For the more adventurous or for those with dogs, there are many delightful public footpaths near to the property that lead you through fields and into magical woodlands including the level walking trails of Cannop ponds, Mallards Pike or Lydney Harbour.

If you are really active and have brought your own bicycles or would like to hire an electric bicycle to explore the area , there are hire shops and trails all around the forest.
